Cost and billing

How much does it cost?

One plan, one price for couples and individuals, shown at checkout before you pay. It starts with a 1-week trial, then it is billed every 4 weeks until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime in your account. Every clinician issues superbills you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards work at checkout.

How does the 1-week trial work?

Your first payment covers a 1-week trial: a session and messaging with your therapist. When the trial ends, the plan is billed every 4 weeks until you cancel. If you cancel before it ends, nothing more is charged.

How it works

What do I actually get?

Weekly sessions with a therapist who specializes in relationships, plus short exercises to work through between them. All online, scheduled around your week, and you can come together or on your own.

What does a week look like?

One live session with your therapist, then one piece of practice they picked for you to try in real life. Ten minutes, not an evening.

Who picks my therapist?

A matching specialist reviews your answers and your state, then matches you with a therapist who fits what you want to change, from clinicians they know personally. If the fit turns out wrong they will move you at no cost.

How many sessions will I need?

Your therapist tells you after the first one, so you are not signing up for something open-ended. Most people meet weekly for a few months, then taper off or stop once the pattern has shifted.

Is it all online?

Yes. Sessions are private video calls and the practice between sessions is on your phone or computer, so there is no office to travel to.

Insurance and superbills

Is this covered by insurance?

Usually not, and that is true of couples therapy almost everywhere, in an office or online. Health insurance pays to treat a diagnosed condition in one person, and a relationship is not a diagnosis, so to bill insurance a therapist has to diagnose one of you, and that stays on their medical record. Most couples pay for counseling themselves instead, which keeps a diagnosis off anyone’s record and no insurer deciding how many sessions you get. Every clinician issues superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards work at checkout.

Starting without your partner

Can I start without my partner?

Yes, and plenty of people do. Working on the relationship by yourself still changes what happens in it, and if your partner joins later you move to sessions together without starting over.

Clinical scope and crisis

Is this real therapy, or coaching?

Therapy. Every clinician is licensed by a state board, keeps clinical records and issues superbills. We cannot prescribe medication or fulfill court orders, and we are not built for active crisis.

Your privacy

Is what I share private?

Your connection is encrypted, Stripe handles payment so we never hold your full card number, and we keep your name, email and anything about your health out of analytics and advertising tools. The privacy policy has the full detail.
